International Webinar with theme Early Detection of Emergency Maternal And Neonatal Emergency In Islands was held on Monday, 21th September 2020 at Health Polytechnic of Pangkalpinang. This webinar theme has been chosen as an effort to reduce the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) in Indonesia, as one of the key indicators in the target of achieving sustainable development, is a hard effort and has not yet met our expectations. Various efforts have been made, in the form of financial assistance and all the potential is mobilized but the target set has not been achieved, it seems that this national problem requires a deep and re-examination to study what factors cause cases of maternal-child and infant mortality.  Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a study of the culture and community that is able to protect pregnant women and babies from the death and endanger the health of mothers and children. On this occasion, the Health Polytechnic of Pangkalpinang held a webinar international for participants according to the midwifery curriculum. This is the first international webinar in this history of our institution which is completely conducted on a digital platform in line with the social distancing norms due to COVID-19 pandemic.

This international webinar speakers from three countries: Prisca Zwanikken,MD,M.Sc.CH,PhD (Senior Specialist In International Public Health in Royal Tropical Institute Amsterdam, Netherlands) with theme: Community empowerment in early detection of maternal neonatal emergency careDr. Jerico Pardosi (QUT University) with theme: Maternity and postnatal care during COVID-19: evidence from recent studies; Dr. Heru Herdawati, (Indonesia Midwifery Association) with theme: Neonatal maternal emergency management policy in the pandemic period based on Midwifery Law no. 4 th 2019; As a master of ceremony conducted by Annisa Sali Pinaremas, M.Kes and moderatored by Emmy Kardinasari, M.Sc.

The webinar attended by almost 5000 participants from Indonesia, Srilanka, Australia, Netherland and other country through zoom and youtube channel ‘Poltekkes Pangkalpinang Jurusan Kebidanan’.  This webinar was productive, enjoyable and fruitful. All of the questions from participant answered properly and correctly by the speakers. This webinar was successful and memorable event for all the committee and also participants.
